MDM690 Week 1

Week 1 Reflection

Early on in the development of our brand ideas, I was a little meticulous about cataloguing my research. Professor Rogalle drove it into our heads early in the program, and I found that my deep dislike of annotated bibliographies became a strong tool in my arsenal. I thought that this would make it easier for me in week one, but in fact, it made it more difficult because I had so much research. Feeling like I was drowning in information, I reached out to Mr. McClung for some clarification, and his response helped me clear the mental logjam.

The most significant new insight that I received was the realization that I could break up my references into subcategories like Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, Video Editing, and more. This helped tremendously. I found it very useful when I sat down to write out a synopsis video script.

My feelings were a little like a roller coaster. At first, I felt pretty confident because I had a ton of research, then I started to feel a bit panicked by the amount of research, and then it leveled out a bit. I still feel a little of the turbulence, but it is far more manageable now than it was when I started.

The most significant actions were that I put in the hours, I communicated when things were starting to get rough, and I came up with solutions that worked for me by "taking one bite at a time" and breaking it into manageable chunks. I ended up running a little late, but I made sure that the job was done right in the end.
